Managing a child's anger (ANGERmas)

[This course will take you about 1 hour to complete.]

All children and young people will experience strong emotions and tantrums. Anger is one of the many emotions that we all experience at one time or another. It is perfectly normal to experience feelings of anger. It can become a problem when it leads to behaviour that is harmful or unhelpful, negatively affecting the child and/or other people. Some children and young people may not have the tools to process the emotion of anger in a healthy way and this can be stressful for them and for you as their foster carer.
It is important for you to understand the background to where the child's anger might come from and develop some tools to successfully de-escalate situations.

In this course, you will learn:
- Why children get angry.
- What happens when they get angry.
- What you can do in the short and long term.
- How additional resources can help you and your foster child.
