Promoting Sexual Health - Part 1 (PSH1open)

Description
[This course is in two parts and each part will take you about 2h to complete - so about 4h in total to obtain the certificate.]

This is a long course that covers a wide range of topics related to sexual health. The goal of this course is to help you better understand the challenges young people face in getting clear, accurate information about relationships and sexual health and how that influences the choices they make. You can and should be a trusted source for information and support for any questions your foster child has and as they grow that will include questions about their sexuality. We encourage you NOT to think of this as having “The Talk” but as a frequent, steady promotion of having a positive, confident view of one’s body, relationships and sexual experiences.

In this first part of the course, you will learn:
- What you should cover in conversations about sexual health.
- Specifics on anatomical terms for sexual organs.
- Changes that occur during puberty and how young people can manage them.
- How to support young people through menstruation.
- About sexual activity, relationships and consent.
